Eckhart Tolle

This is the miracle of surrender Don't look for peace.
Don't look for any other state than the one you are in now;

otherwise, you will set up inner conflict and unconscious resistance.

Forgive yourself for not being at peace.

The moment you completely accept your non-peace,

your non-peace becomes transmuted into peace.

Anything you accept fully will get you there, will take you into peace.

This is the miracle of surrender.

To offer no resistance to life is to be in a state of grace, ease, and lightness.

This state is then no longer dependent upon things being in a certain way, good or bad.

It seems almost paradoxical, yet when your inner dependency on form is gone,

the general conditions of your life, the outer forms, tend to improve greatly.

Things, people, or conditions that you thought you needed for your happiness

now come to you with no struggle or effort on your part,

and you are free to enjoy and appreciate them - while they last.

All those things, of course, will still pass away,

cycles will come and go, but with dependency gone there is no fear of loss anymore.

 Life flows with ease.

(Words from Happy Yoga by Steve Ross)

Psychologically, our human urge is toward safety. But safety from what - death? No matter how safe you are, death is going to happen at some point. Security in a secure world is an illusion, and this is where what is desired and what is delivered go their separate ways. And that¡Çs where suffering comes in.
The only true security in the world is in the knowledge of that everything changes: Life itself is changeless, but life expresses itself as change through change.

¡ÈWhat you fear will appear¡É and ¡Èwhat you resist persists¡É The more you cling, the more you will suffer.
Everything cycles through so-called good and bad, good and bad, good and bad.
As you begin living from a place of acceptance rather than resistance, so-called bad things rarely happen. Somehow, the universe knows that you are on the right track and it supports you, making life a pleasure.

Accepting the temporary role of the body can be an incalculable relief.

What you give is what you get. If you feel good anyone who sees you will be drawn to you no matter what your shape and size.

The world¡Çs problems are your problems. What can you do toward world peace? Find out who you really are. Be the change that you want to see.

Do not take life's experience too seriously. Above all, do not let them hurt you, for in reality they are nothing but dream experiences. Play your part in life, but never forget it is only a role. If circumstances are bad and you have to bear them, do not make them a parf of yourself. What you lose in the world will not be a loss to your soul. Trust God and destroy fear, which paralyzes all efforts to succeed and attracts they very thing you fear. All Nature will communte with you when you are in tune with God. Realization of this truth will make you master of your destony.

In Japan we have a word "En". "En" is like fate. Something that has been already decided to happen. We say for example people meet certain people for En. Or you get this job because of En, etc.
Mituso Aida talks about "bodhisattva of reversed En". With "Reversed En", which is called "Gyaku En", he explains something bad happens to certain people that ulitimately guides them into Buddhist path. E.g. if someone just really dislikes Buddhism and talks bad about it all the time but eventually him by doing that somehow En ends up taking him into Buddhism. "Jyun En" on the other hand means completely opposite. "Jyun" means to follow. So people who are surrounded with Buddhist people or environment naturally follow their En, Buddhism. Either way, he says there always is someone who sets the En up. Especially with "Gyaku En" those who set up the En are often somebody you don't like or who troubles you. Sometimes she/he can be an enermy for you. And Mitsuo Aida tells us that those people are "bodhisattva of reversed En".

We often tend to make the same mistakes repeatedly, don't we? It is like something is imprinted inside of our brains that even if we know that we shouldn't do certain things we still do it again and again. This kind of bad habit is called Samskara in Sanskrit. Stephen Cope writes about Samskara like below;
"Samskaras are like little tracks, little vectors, little ruts in the muddy road. The next time the car travels that road, these muddy ruts will have hardened into permanent fixtures, and the car wheels will want to slide into them. Indeed, it's easier to steer right into them than to try to avoid them.
Yogis used different metaphor. Samskaras are traditionally described as 'seeds'. When Samskaric seeds ripen, they release a subtle new volitional impulse into the mind-stream. There seed are powerful unconscious motivators of action which lead to an unconscious repetition of old actions.In this way, the self is bond by its previous actions.
Samskaras remain latent in the mind until they are triggered by some life circumstance into releasing their 'fruit'".(But if something triggers them to release the fruit, they are always there. Example: it is so difficult to quite coffee even if you know it is not good for you every time you are on the break you cannot help buying it just because this is something you always do...).

Steve Ross, my teacher taught me. There is this yogi who does not speak any more for his spiritual practice. His name is Baba Hari Das and he had a chalkboard hanging from his neck. And on the board, it said like following;
"... Meditation is the most important thing (to for stopping thoughts). But it's not easy to meditate because of obstacles that come in the way. There are two main obstacles. First, the physical body - weakness, stiffness, illness and so on. Second, Samskaras - impression of past and present actions which create tendencies toward present and future actions. The physical hindrances can he helped by doing asanas every day and by eating pure (sattvic) food. But the obstacles due to Samskaras are very strong. One is drawn to the wrong path, and even though that is clearly understood, one can't help oneself. Gambling, drugs, addiction, thoughts of hurting others, and all desires are impurities of the mind. The mind is purified in two ways - by doing pranayama and meditation, and by cultivating positive qualities. For developing positive qualities, an aspirant practices selfless action, associates with spiritual people (satsang), studies scriptures and reads life histories of saints".

Hmmm. We first of all got to know what our Samskaras are!

Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, when practicing deeply the prajna paramita, perceived that all five skandhas in their own being are empty, and was saved from all suffering."O Shariputra, form does not differ from emptiness, emptiness does not differ from form; that which is form is emptiness, that which is emptiness form. The same is true of feelings, perceptions, formations, consciousness.O Shariputra, all dharmas are marked with emptiness: they do not appear nor disappear, are not tainted nor pure, do not increase nor decrease.Therefore in emptiness, no form, no feelings, no perceptions, no formations, no consciousness; no eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, no body, no mind, no color, no realm of eyes, until no realm of mind-consciousness; no ignorance, and also no extinction of it, until no old-age and death, and also no extinction of it; no suffering, no origination, no stopping, no path, no cognition, also no attainment. With nothing to attain, a Bodhisattva depends on prajna paramita and the mind is no hindrance. Without any hindrance, no fears exist.¡¡Far apart from every perverted view one dwells in nirvana. In the three worlds all Buddhas depend on prajna paramita and attain unsurpassed complete perfect enlightenment.Therefore, know the prajna paramita is the great transcendent mantra, is the great bright mantra, is the utmost mantra, is the supreme mantra, which is able to relieve all suffering and is true not false. So, proclaim the prajna paramita mantra, proclaim the mantra that says,
Gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate! Bodhi! Svaha!"
